Biography

Dr. P. Sudhakar Reddy, a distinguished academician and expert in Swasthavritta and Yoga,  he pursued his BAMS from Dr. BRKR Govt. Ayurveda Medical College, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India  (1994), and later completed his post-graduation in Swasthavritta from Govt. Ayurveda Medical College, Trivandrum, Kerala (1999). He further enhanced his expertise with a Diploma in Yoga & Naturopathy from CCRYN, New Delhi (2000). With over 28 years of teaching experience, Dr. Reddy has served as a lecturer at Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College and KPSVS Ayurveda Medical College. Currently, he is the Professor and Head of the Department of PG Studies in Swasthavritta & Yoga at JSS Ayurveda Medical College, Mysuru (since 2003). He is also teaching Research Methodology and Biostatistics for PG & UG students since18 years. Dr. Reddy played a pivotal role in developing the CBDC Syllabus for Swasthavritta & Yoga (UG & PG) as Chairman, appointed by NCISM, New Delhi (2023-2025). He was also a Core Committee Member for preparing the CCIM Syllabus for UG & PG Swasthavritta and PG Diploma in Swasthavritta & Yoga (2007-2010). A prolific author, Dr. Reddy has written several books, including "Dr. Reddy’s Comprehensive Guide to Swasthavritta" (2006) and "Textbook on Swasthavritta" (2022). He has also authored "A Textbook on Research Methodology and Biostatistics for Undergraduates" as per the CBDC Curriculum. Additionally, he served as Editor for four chapters in the Caraka Samhita new edition project (2020). With over 40 publications and participation as a Resource Person in more than 75 national and international seminars, Dr. Reddy is a respected figure in academic circles, known for inspiring students to excel."

Abstract

Nature cures, not the physician (Hippocrates), Nature cure is a constructive method of treatment, which aims at removing the basic cause of diseases through rationale use of elements freely available in nature.  

Naturopathy is not only system of healing it is a way of life. Nature cure is a drugless therapy that involves the use of the five great elements (Panchamahabhutas) of nature to restore, to build-up, and to maintain health. Four fundamental principles of healthy life- are  Achara – Right conduct, Vichara – Right thinking, Ahara –Right food habits, Vihara- Right daily routine. All diseases occur because of accumulation of morbid matter only. Human body possesses inherent self-constructing and self-healing powers , In this presentation, topics will be covered like Basic principles of Naturopathy and its treatment modalities and its application in primary health care in lucid manner.
